| good to know | Designer Pascal Smelik is fascinated by the concept of deformity. He takes on the challenge of the experiment, including the risks and so-called mistakes that are part of this process. As a testament to that, Smelik used liquid wax in cold water to first create a wax model. Together with pols potten studio he developed a method to produce the intriguing ‘Drip’ series, available in nickel and brass plated candle sticks and lamps. |

Design Pascal Smelik
Graduated cum laude from The School of Arts in Utrecht with series of candlewax based products, named ‘Kaarsrecht’. These were nominated for the Piet Bakker Award and the Talent 2009 Design Awards. Smelik explains; “I like to study the concept of deformity. To explore shapes and materials. Together with pols potten he developed a method to produce bigger series of the “drip candle holders” – fit for the consumer market.
